Peptide Reconstitution: A Simple Step-by-Step Guide

HOW-TO GUIDE

How lyophilized peptides are reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, common mistakes, and the free Flux Labs dosing calculator.

What reconstitution means

Peptides ship as lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder for stability. Before laboratory use they are dissolved — 'reconstituted' — in bacteriostatic water. The amount of water you add determines the concentration per unit drawn.

The basic steps

1) Let the vial reach room temperature. 2) Draw the chosen volume of bacteriostatic water. 3) Add it slowly down the vial wall — never spray directly onto the powder. 4) Swirl gently until clear; never shake. 5) Store reconstituted vials cold as described in Storage & Handling.

Skip the math — use the calculator

Concentration math is where most mistakes happen. The free Flux Labs Reconstitution Calculator does it for you: enter the vial size and the water volume and it shows exactly what each unit contains.

What you need

Bacteriostatic water and supplies are in the Accessories collection; prefer no mixing at all? Pre-filled injector pens are dosed by clicks and need no reconstitution.

Frequently asked

How much water should I add?

There's no single answer — it sets the concentration. Use the free calculator to get exact per-unit amounts.

Can I use normal sterile water?

Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol so a vial stays usable over multiple draws; plain sterile water is single-use.

How long does a reconstituted vial last?

Kept refrigerated, typically 3–4 weeks; the Storage & Handling guide has per-compound detail.
